So I had a copy of Photoshop CS3 Beta running. When I tried to install the new
copy of CS3 I just bought, it said it couldn't install it because there was a
conflict with Photoshop CS3. In other words, the new official CS3 was
conflicting with the Beta version. So I uninstalled PS CS3. By dragging it to
the trash. Just as I would uninstall anything else.
That didn't work, so I searched the web and found the following warning
(below) buried within the Adobe message boards. Most importantly, "you CANNOT
uninstall by dragging CS3 Applications to the trash, you must use the
uninstaller."
Of course, now that I have disposed of PS CS3, the uninstaller doesn't work.
So I guess I'm screwed regarding Photoshop until someone releases the 'cleanup'
script.
Bummer. I really wish they had added this note to the new CS3 installer.
What a pain in the ass.

Adobe is now shipping Creative Suite 3. If you are a beta or pre-release user,
you must first uninstall all CS3 beta and pre-release programs on your machine
before installing the shipping versions.
On Windows XP, uninstall via Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.
On Windows Vista, in the Programs section of the Control Panel, select
Uninstall a Program.
On Macintosh, the uninstaller is in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers.
Note: you CANNOT uninstall by dragging CS3 Applications to the trash, you must
use the uninstaller.
After uninstalling, proceed with installing the shipping version of Creative
Suite 3.
We can no longer distribute the old version of the CS3 Cleanup script, but we
are working on a new version that will be available within the next few days.
We appreciate you patience and apologize for any inconvenience.
