Discussion:
Complete UNinstall of CS3 Mac
(too old to reply)

I installed the CS3 beta this morning. I have a Mac Pro with 4 harddrives. I
mistakenly installed CS3 on a backup drive rather than a primary drive. I need
to uninstall from the backup and reinstall on a primary. The installer
uninstalls everything EXCEPT the file that keeps track of the installation.
With it there, I'm not given an opportunity to move the install to a different
hard drive. I've scoured the disks high and low and can't find anything
relevant. I'm suspecting a hidden (or obscurely named) .plist. Any help here?

Thanks,
Chad Baker

Can you please send me the complete uninstall directions for the beta version
of CS3 for the intel-duo core macs?
It won't accept my serial numbers from my CS2 and I just want to get rid of it
now.
Thanks

It's not supposed to "accept your CS2 serial numbers." As per the
instructions, you use the CS2 number to REQUEST a CS3 number from the Adobe
site indicated on the instructions.

As far as uninstalling:

Not only do you HAVE to uninstall first, but you also have to run the
cleanup/uninstall script to remove all vestiges of the CS3 beta.

The script is available ONLY by emailing "cs3beta at adobe dot com" to
request it, or you can wait for the version with a GUI that will be posted
when CS3 finally ships.

Asking for the script on this forum won't do it.

Not only do you HAVE to uninstall first, but you also have to run the
cleanup/uninstall script to remove all vestiges of the CS3 beta.

I have no idea whether there is a cleanup/uninstall script for Windows or
not.

Photoshop CS3 will be released in two flavors, Standard and Extended.

The uninstall script available now upon request (at least for the Mac) has
been promised also in a version with a GUI when CS3 ships.

We KNOW THAT but they aren't sending it out anymore, and saying we have to wait
for a new release leaving some of us up the creek with new software we can't
use. So the hopes are that someone that got the cleaner before the full release
will send it to us.

There is now also a WARNING not to use the Clean script that had been
distrubuted earlier. :-/

I don't know if your problem was the same as mine, but this is the reply that
Adobe gave me when I emailed them. Proceed at your own risk.

My Message: ======
I'm using a Mac. I didn't update to Bridge Beta 2, and in the process of
uninstalling I deleted the folders from my Applications folder. Then when I
ran the removal utility it couldn't remove it. I know it was dumb, but I just
need something to remove all vestiges of CS3 beta from my system so the
installer won't choke up on the first step.
Their Reply: =======
Delete the following files & folders, then try installing:
{{note - you may not have all of these folders, just delete all that you have}}

Users/[User Name]/Library/Preferences [any files and folders with CS3 in the
name]
Applications/Adobe Bridge CS3
Applications/Adobe Device Central CS3
Applications/Adobe Help Viewer 1.1
Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS3
Applications/Adobe Stock Photos CS3
Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers
Library/Application Support/Adobe [any files and folders with CS3 in the name]
Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PCD
Library/Application Support/Adobe/backup/
Library/Application Support/Adobe/caps
Library/Application Support/Adobe/Installers
Library/Application Support/Adobe/Uninstall
Library/Preferences/FLEXnet Publisher/

Best regards,

The Photoshop Beta Team.
=======
I assume that's what the script does -- if I'm wrong somebody correct me. But
I followed their instructions and my install went through fine. I shouldn't
have trashed the .app files in the Applications folder before uninstalling.

The TWAINBridge issue is covered in the Photoshop FAQ posts. You need to quit that process with the Activity Monitor.

Or, as Buko as suggested to many users, just disconnect your scanner.

Is this uninstall issue one that needs to be done when we install the final release? Or, will the CS3 installer uninstall the beta?

I've tried to request it, but this is what I got:

We are no longer distributing the uninstall script for Photoshop CS3 Beta
users. An updated version of the uninstall process will be available shortly
and posted to the Adobe Labs page as well as the knowledge base. If possible,
you should first try to run the uninstaller that came with the beta to remove
it from your system.
We are sorry for any inconvenience.

Photoshop Beta Team

could somebody email me the script? the address is welshby AT gmail DOT com.
Thanks a lot. I couldn't find it at labs.adobe.com

if someone could send the cleaner to jacobo at mts dot net as well you would be
the official hero of the day since adobe didn't think it would be a good idea
to release the cleaner on the same day as the software... like really??
