Discussion:
TIFF to ACR4 in CS3
(too old to reply)

Bridge (beta 2) has a preference option to open TIFFs in ACR4 but PSCS3 does
not. Is it possible to edit TIFFs in ACR4 through PSCS3 only and not go through
Bridge, since the Bridge version will not transfer the image to PSCS3 using the
Open command (at least not for me)?

I prefer to do this from inside Bridge.

I control click on a thumbnail and open the Tiff in ACR4;
make my adjustments and Save the corrected file to a .psd in the same folder;
and then I just double click on the ,psd file to open it in Photoshop CS3.

I leave that "Prefer ACR4 for Tiffs & JPEGs" UNchecked in Bridge's Prefs.

Your technique works but it is more steps than the Open command should offer.
Why doesn't Bridge's ACR4 Open command work to transfer directly into PSCS3? It
just pauses for a few seconds and returns you to Bridge with nothing added to
PSCS3. Was it designed to be useless?

Also, Control-Click doesn't take me into ACR4. It works the same as a plain
left click. I am using Windows XP Pro SP2. However, a right click gives me a
menu with a choice to take it into Camera Raw so I use that.

It does work in Photoshop. Choose File > Open, Format = Camera Raw, select a Tiff and open it. You'll get the ACR window.

Christina,
Can you or anyone in Adobe programming/engineering comment on if the final
version of CS3 has the Open button of ACR accessed thru Bridge fixed or if a
fix via a patch or new version of Bridge will be forthcoming soon? The same
query also for adding TIFF files to the CS3 preference choice of auto opening
files into ACR.

Addendum:

It is strange that CS3 offers the Preference setting to open JPG files in ACR but not TIFFs. Maybe you can add this in the next update.

Right Click in Windows is the equivalent of Control Click on a Mac.

...Or right click on Mac. Let's put the One Button myth to bed once and for
all. Macs have had a right click for years and years, they just provided a
crumby mouse. The problem now is that the multi-button Mighty Mouse is set to
one button by default. In Mouse prefs, you can set the right click to work
properly.

Most of us Mac Users don't use a rodent at all.
Ever.
(Except on those very rare occasions when we have to do maintenance in Safe
Start-up mode.)

I use a Wacom stylus ? and the Control button for your right click.

I don't have absolutely no desire, or need, for a Mighty Mouse or any other
kind of mouse ? whether dead or alive!

Still drawing with a soap-on-a-rope? Ughhh.

Try a Stylus, John ? and save yourself from a nasty attack of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome!

Ann,

I did try a Wacom styuls and tablet. They've been in a drawer for years
now.

It's just not everybody's cup of tea.

As for the "Mighty Mouse", I hated that too.
